Title:Dominion Through Him
Scripture:
For if death reigned through one man’s offense, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life through one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
Message:
Contrary to the belief that this verse pertains to reigning with Jesus in the future, it emphasizes reigning—exercising kingship—in the present through Jesus Christ. While the millennial reign involves reigning with Him, our current reign is by Him and through Him, signifying a significant distinction.
Romans 5:17 conveys a distinct message from Revelation 20:6, where it mentions, “…they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” The future reign involves doing something together, indicated by the term “with.” Currently, we’re not reigning with Christ.
In Romans 5:17, the Greek word ‘Dia’ is employed, meaning ‘by’ or ‘through.’ Presently, we reign by or through Jesus, operating in His Name. This calls for exercising dominion, living as masters over Satan, darkness, the world, and all creation.
The Greek translation of “reign” implies “to king.” Our role is to be kings in life. The Amplified Classic version states, “…reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)” (Romans 5:17 AMPC).
As we engage in prayer, using the Name of Jesus, and operating in His authority, we enforce the Father’s will on earth, establishing His righteousness in nations.
PRAYER
In the Name of the Lord Jesus, I exercise dominion over circumstances and the spirits of darkness, for they are subject to me. I enforce the heavenly Father’s will on earth, establishing His righteousness, peace, prosperity, wholeness, and wellness in the nations. Amen.
