God’s Promises Are True
Scripture:
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)
Message:
The reliability of God’s promises is a cornerstone of our faith. In a world filled with uncertainty and change, we can find unwavering assurance in the fact that God’s promises are true and steadfast. His Word is not only a source of comfort but also a foundation upon which we can build our lives.
2 Corinthians 1:20 affirms this truth: “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” This verse underscores that every promise God has made is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. In Him, we find the ultimate confirmation of God’s faithfulness and the assurance that His promises will come to pass.
God’s promises cover every aspect of our lives, providing us with hope, strength, and guidance. From promises of salvation and eternal life to assurances of His presence and provision, we can trust that what God has spoken will be accomplished. As Numbers 23:19 declares, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”
Trusting in God’s promises involves actively believing and standing on His Word. This means reading the Bible regularly, meditating on His promises, and letting them shape our thoughts and actions. When we face trials or uncertainties, recalling God’s promises can provide the strength and confidence we need to persevere.
One of the most powerful promises is found in Jeremiah 29:11, where God assures us of His good plans: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This promise reminds us that God’s intentions toward us are always for our benefit and that He is actively working for our good.
Another profound promise is found in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This assurance allows us to trust that no matter what circumstances we face, God is orchestrating everything for our ultimate good and His glory.
In moments of doubt or fear, let us remember the promises of God. They are true, reliable, and eternal. Embrace these promises, let them guide your life, and hold on to them with unwavering faith.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth and reliability of Your promises. Help me to trust in Your Word and to hold on to Your assurances in times of uncertainty. Strengthen my faith and remind me daily of Your faithfulness. May Your promises shape my thoughts, guide my actions, and bring peace to my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
