Topic: FAITH: A PROOF OF GOD’S WORD.
SCRIPTURE: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
MESSAGE:
The best definition of faith that can be found is in the passage above. Because he knew we wouldn’t find a better definition in the world, God had to define it for us. A substance is anything tangible you can relate to or touch. If your faith is the basis for your hope, then your hope is actually shown in faith since faith is the real thing . As described in Romans 4:19–20, Abraham, who was about a hundred years old at the time, “being not weak in faith, considered not [his] own body now dead, nor yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.”
Abraham didn’t let his physical condition deter him; rather, he physically demonstrated his hope by praising God. There can be no faith if there is no basis for it or no way to put it into practice.
The proof and title document for things unseen are found in faith. A title deed is a legal document that certifies your ownership of a property, which could be a home or a plot of land. Your claim to the property is confirmed by this document. In the same manner, the Bible alone suffices to demonstrate that you possess what God has given you. Because you already have the proof, it doesn’t matter if others don’t believe you because they can’t see it.
PRAYER
When faced with difficulties or challenging circumstances, I don’t cower in fear or timidity; instead, I rise to the challenge, confident that I am who God says I am, possess what he says I possess, and am capable of doing what he says I am capable of doing!
