Title: He Who is Above All.

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:20-21 (NIV) “[God] raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

In a world filled with uncertainties and challenges, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. Yet, amidst the chaos, there is a truth that stands unwavering: our God is above all. He reigns supreme over every circumstance, every trial, and every obstacle we may face. In this devotional, let’s explore the profound reality of God’s sovereignty and how it can bring us comfort, strength, and hope in the midst of life’s storms.

Pause and reflect on the words of Ephesians 1:20-21. These verses remind us that God exalted Christ above all powers and authorities, establishing Him as the supreme ruler over the heavens and the earth. As believers, we are united with Christ, and His victory becomes our victory. Therefore, we can take confidence in the fact that the One who is above all is also working on our behalf.

Consider the story of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4:35-41. In the midst of a raging tempest, Jesus’s disciples feared for their lives. Yet, with a single command, Jesus rebuked the wind and the waves, demonstrating His authority over the forces of nature. Just as He calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee, He can bring peace and calm to the storms of our lives.

Consider the challenges and struggles you may be facing in your life. Are there situations that seem insurmountable or circumstances that feel beyond your control? In those moments, remember that God’s sovereignty extends to every aspect of your life. He is not only aware of your situation but also actively working for your good.

Think about the times when you felt helpless or overwhelmed. How did you respond? Did you rely on your own strength and understanding, or did you surrender to God’s sovereignty? As you meditate on the truth that He who is above is above all, allow His peace to wash over you and His strength to sustain you.

As followers of Christ, we can take comfort in knowing that our lives are held secure in the hands of a sovereign God. No matter what challenges we face or how daunting the circumstances may seem, we can trust in His unfailing love and power to see us through.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your sovereignty and Your unchanging faithfulness. Help us to trust in Your power and authority, knowing that You are above all things. Give us the strength to surrender our lives to Your will and to find peace in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
