Title: Embracing Universal Goodwill
Scripture:
In the same region, shepherds tended to their flock under the night sky (Luke 2:8). Luke 2:8-14 recounts a profound moment when an angel appeared before these shepherds, enveloping them in the glorious light of the Lord and inspiring awe.
Reassuring them with the words “Fear not,” the angel delivered joyous news for all people—a Savior, Christ the Lord, born in the city of David. The shepherds were given a sign: they would find the newborn wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. The heavenly proclamation followed, with a multitude of angels praising God and declaring, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14).
This goodwill toward all humanity, declared in Bethlehem, endures. It is our Gospel, the essence of Christmas. The Bible affirms, “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them” (2 Corinthians 5:19).
God’s goodwill extends to every nation. Jesus Christ embodied God’s love—a divine message to the world. Christ, the expression of God’s will and righteousness, has elevated us to share in His nature (2 Corinthians 5:21). Each day, as the unfolding of the Father’s heart, we reveal His will.
Prayer
Gracious Father, we thank you for your boundless love and goodwill to all. May we leverage your mercy to share the truth, leading others to the abundant life, peace, blessings, and righteousness found in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
