SCRIPTURE: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God by continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15)

The act of offering praise to God transcends mere words of gratitude; it encompasses our heartfelt confessions, declarations, psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs that glorify His grace and goodness. It’s not a simple “Thank you, Lord, for everything.” True praise involves thanking His name with purpose.

In the days of the Old Testament, priests meticulously presented specific offerings to God, including burnt offerings and fragrant incense, in accordance with the law’s instructions. In the New Testament, we are likewise encouraged to present sacrifices of praise to God. Hebrews 13:15 emphasizes the nature of this offering: “Through Jesus Christ, let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.”

When you worship and adore the Lord, confessing His name, you are offering the precious sacrifice of praise. Your heartfelt praise and the consecration of your life as a living sacrifice release a sweet fragrance before Him, drawing His presence closer to you and covering you with His divine overshadowing.

Dear father, thank you for your word, the entrance of which has given me light and understanding today, concerning true worship! Thus, from the depths of my heart this day, I worship you for your goodness and grace towards me, I thank you for making me an heir of the eternal salvation you wrought through Christ Jesus. Amen.
