Topic: Always seek guidance from the Spirit
Scripture: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye (Psalm 32:8).
Message:
You can always win in life if you listen to what the Holy Spirit tells you to do in every circumstance. Many people are disappointed because they never seek His guidance on the best course of action. To get themselves out of difficulties, they would prefer to turn to their friends and family. Sadly, people they seek assistance from only offer advice that is ineffective since it is based on human logic and common sense.
Learn to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. Ask Him for direction and guidance in whatever you do. Call on Him when you are faced with obstacles that appear insurmountable, and He will tell you what to do and the tactics to use. The great people who are mentioned in the Scriptures grasped this reality, which is why they never made a significant decision before consulting the Lord.
In order to conquer Jericho, Joshua in particular had to rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? He responded, “Nay, but I have come now as captain of the LORD’s host.” Joshua then collapsed to the ground, saying, “Always consult the Spirit. I will teach thee in the way thou shalt go; I will lead thee with my eye” (Psalm 32:8).
The Holy Spirit is the Lord’s host’s captain in the passage above. He provided Joshua a plan that no human being could have come up with on their own. By just blowing trumpets and encouraging the people to sing and glorify God, no human imagination could have imagined pulling down the enormous walls of Jericho. But as the Holy Ghost predicted, everything actually transpired in that manner. According to Hebrews 11:30 in the Bible, “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down.”
Joshua’s adherence to the Lord’s Word served as evidence of his faith in it. Learn to rely on the Holy Spirit at all times because He is always there for you, in you, and through you. If you would only ask Him, He would teach you, lead you, and guide you into success and triumph in whatever you do.
Prayer:
Dear Holy Spirit, I am overjoyed today to know that it is your pleasure to direct and lead me always in the direction of victory and success. You are my light, showing me the direction I should go and guiding me with your eye, so I know I’ll never walk in the dark, in bewilderment, or in ambiguity. I adore and value you so much! Amen.
