TITLE: WORRY MAKES THINGS WORSE
SCRIPTURE: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 TLB).
MESSAGE:
Isn’t it wonderful that as a Christian, you’re encouraged not to be burdened by worries? This liberates you from unnecessary stress, as worrying tends to exacerbate life’s challenges. Reflect on the teachings of Jesus found in Matthew 6:27 (TPT) where He posed the question, “So, can worrying actually add anything to your life?” The answer is clear: worrying serves no purpose.
It’s important to consciously reject worry in various aspects of your life, such as concerning your rent or your health. Some individuals mistakenly believe that unless they’re visibly distressed, God won’t intervene in their circumstances. However, this misconception fails to recognize that worry disrupts the divine power at work in one’s life. If worrying had any positive influence, God would have endorsed it. Yet, He never did.
Instead, He advised against it, stating, “…discard your worries! Why obsess over your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are” (Matthew 6:31-32 TPT).
Worry is akin to a “fiery dart of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16), and when it assails you, counteract it with the power of God’s Word. Resolve each day to live by God’s Word, which encourages, “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s
wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ” (Philippians 4:6-7 MSG). Rejoice in the transformative power that unfolds when you allow Christ to replace worry at the core of your life. Hallelujah!
DECLARATION
I repel worry with the strength of God’s Word. I refuse to be anxious about anything; instead, I bring all my concerns to God in prayer. In return, I am blessed with a divine peace that transcends human comprehension, guarding my heart and mind. I trust that all circumstances are ultimately aligning for my benefit, and I am never at a disadvantage. Praise be to God!
FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 6:25-34 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
